So I’ve finally made a bit of a start on my ‘side-project’. I’ve been oddly fascinated in shadow puppets lately, and equally as addicted to ‘The Alchemy Index’ - an album by the band Thrice. The Lion and the Wolf is a song that stood out most to me, and I really felt that a shadow puppet, haunting, ever-so-slightly creepy music video would suit it perfectly. Here’s an explanation of the lyrics that I found online:
“This is a metaphor from Dante’s Inferno. The lion represents malicious sin, sin against one’s fellow man, the wolf represents lust and other crimes against God, and how either one will lead to the other. They both want the same thing in the end; your soul. The song is an adult lullaby meaning be careful who you let in your life and be mindful of your own weaknesses.”
And heres a link to the song: #mce_temp_url#
I’ve only just started the process by doing a quick storyboard and cutting out the basic shillouette of one of the wolf puppets. I still need to add moving parts with fasteners, and cut out the details. (As well as make all the other puppets, the backgrounds, and set up the right lighting - but it’s a start!).
